It looks like Google TV won't be going away anytime soon. After the success of last year's G2 Series, LG Electronics has announced more Google TV models for 2013 -- seven of them, actually.
The new lineup will include a total of seven models and five different screen sizes. The GA6400 Series will be available in 42-, 47-, 50-, 55- and 60-inch screen sizes, with the GA7900 getting just 47- and 55-inch versions. However, that GA7900 Series does include LG's Cinema Screen design, which has a slim bezel and borderless display.
In addition to the latest from Google, each of the sets features the recently announced redesigned Magic Qwerty Remote. The remote has a full keyboard and point-and-click control. It also boasts better language recognition and improved search.
Having that remote also means that all seven TVs will have Voice Search, the PrimeTime quick guide, and the updated Home Dashboard. The latterĀ streamlines access to web-based services and apps and has "cards" to act as folders for apps and other content. The new "My Interest" Card also puts real-time weather and customizable news right on the dashboard.
The LG Smart TV with Google TV will also include plenty of connectivity options, including pairing the TV with smartphones and tablets, WiFi and more. In fact, LG says that users will be able to stream content to the TV from one of those portables, at the touch of button.
Other features include the OnLive app pre-installed, a dual-core CPU, the TruPicture XD Engine, and Cinema 3D TV functionality via FPR technology.
"LG is committed to providing diverse home entertainment options that offer the most satisfying user experience and the latest LG Smart TVs with Google TV do just that," said Havis Kwon, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company. "They deliver a stellar user experience by merging the latest Google TV platform with LG's proven Smart TV technology. The result is a comprehensive system that is groundbreaking in its simplicity."
LG's 2013 Google TV lineup will make its official debut at next month's 2013 International CES in Las Vegas, Nevada.
